This is a unique opportunity to join a private equity-backed startup at the ground level, focused on residential real estate investment and property management. The company combines entrepreneurial energy with the resources, sophistication, and leadership of a much larger firm. As Controller, you’ll help build a scalable, best-in-class accounting and reporting function across both the parent company (HoldCo) and its operating entities (OpCos). You'll work side-by-side with a seasoned CFO in a high-growth, fast-paced environment where teamwork, transparency, and treating people well are core values.

Responsibilities:

• Stand up accounting and reporting systems from scratch at both HoldCo and OpCo levels
• Deliver timely, accurate financials (within 14 days of month-end) and support forecasting and budgeting
• Establish internal controls and ensure GAAP compliance
• Manage treasury and risk functions, including cash flow, capital investments, and debt
• Oversee post-close M&A accounting, and transition OpCos to a consistent reporting framework
• Implement ERP systems and drive automation of financial processes
• Recruit, mentor, and retain a high-performing accounting team

Requirements:

• CPA required; 8+ years of experience, including 3–5 years in a senior accounting role
• Must have startup experience and have built out finance and accounting functions, teams and department processes from scratch
• Background in real estate, property management, or multi-entity environments preferred
• Experience with M&A accounting, ERP integration, and financial systems implementation
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
• Comfortable working in dynamic environments and going “into the field” to support teams
• High integrity, detail-oriented, and motivated to build from the ground up
