Hoxton Circle has partnered with a local education non profit to help fill a Staff Accountant role that is an integral part of their team. The role gives an opportunity for the right candidate to get into the educational sector if they lack that experience. The role will start off contract/temporary for a few months before becoming permanent, role could turn permanent sooner based on candidate performance. Medical benefits available through Hoxton Circle during the contracted temporary phase prior to being permanent with the client. The job is located near Seaside, CA.

• Accounts Receivable entry
• GL coding/verification of GL coding on Accounts Payable invoices
• Preparation of Quarterly Sales and Use Tax return and Prepayments
• Preparation and submission of DE542 to EDD semimonthly
• Preparation and submission of FTB Form 592 and IRS Form 1042
• Reconciliations for Accounts Payable, Sales Tax Liability, Travel Advances, Gifts/Donations.
• Maintains accurate and complete accounting records and interprets financial reports and statements.
• Audits records and processes, identifies problem areas, and recommends corrective and preventive action for assigned areas.
• Provides feedback when planning and coordinating financial audits and other fiscal control procedures.
• Provides senior level staff support to ensure GAAP assignments are accurate and completed in a timely manner.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree with a major in accounting, business administration, economics, finance, public administration highly preferred
• Graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for one year off the required experience
• 3-5 years of professional accounting experience.
• Experience in full cycle accounting, including month-end. .
• Expertise in governmental and/or non-profit accounting methods and related laws, rules, and regulations.
