Our client is seeking a Senior Accountant – Fixed Assets to join their expanding accounting team. In this key role, you will support all aspects of construction and fixed asset accounting related to the development of a new high-performance computing (HPC) facility, as well as our client's data center infrastructure. This position offers the opportunity to work cross-functionally with teams across Finance, Engineering, Procurement, Operations, and Tax, ensuring accurate reporting and robust asset management processes throughout the asset lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the transformation of fixed asset processes by developing scalable, automated systems integrated with Coupa and Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365).
• Manage and reconcile Construction-in-Progress (CIP) accounts; ensure timely capitalization of assets.
• Record and review journal entries, accruals, and reclassifications in compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to align project milestones with financial tracking and reporting.
• Strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with capitalization policies and audit requirements.
• Enhance reporting tools for CapEx and fixed assets to provide actionable financial insights.
• Support audits and respond to capital project and fixed asset inquiries from internal and external auditors.
• Improve asset retirement and disposal processes, ensuring accurate lifecycle and depreciation tracking.
• Collaborate with Tax and Treasury on asset classification and depreciation compliance.
• Play an active role in systems integration projects and modernization of asset accounting.
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Information Systems, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
• 6+ years of accounting experience, with a strong focus on fixed assets or cost accounting.
• Proven experience in capital-intensive industries such as data centers, infrastructure, or technology/telecom.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, CIP accounting, and the full fixed asset lifecycle.
• Hands-on experience with financial systems such as D365, Coupa, SAP, Oracle, or Alteryx.
• Systems-oriented mindset with a talent for process improvement, automation, and data integration.
• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments.
