Director of Accounting – Real Estate/Property Management
This is a key role in overseeing the financial health of the organization by managing all corporate and property accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for developing and managing budgets, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and leading the company’s accounting operations.
- You will oversee accounting functions, ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, and manage corporate budgets to align with company goals.
- Monitor the performance of the existing property portfolio, ensuring all financial reporting deadlines are met and assisting with accounting tasks like accounts payable, receivables, and monthly financial statements.
- You will be involved in complex financial modeling, development project funding, and communication with property owners.
- Manage various financial processes, including cash receipts, bank reconciliations, capital expenditures, and tax filings.
- Collaborate with property managers to ensure financial goals are met and assist in business development efforts, such as attending pitch meetings and contributing to strategic discussions.
- You will take a lead in team development, creating a foundation for the accounting department, establishing best practices, and recruiting and training staff as the team expands.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required, and a CPA or advanced degree is an advantage.
- At least 8 to 15 years of commercial property management experience, with 5+ years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and budgeting is essential.
- Experience with real estate-specific software such as Yardi, RealPage, or MRI is preferred.
