Our client is a hotel management company located in San Diego, California. They are seeking an experienced Director of Accounting.

This hands-on leadership role will oversee the financial operations of the company’s three hotels, food and beverage outlets, and real estate portfolio. The Director of Accounting will manage all financial aspects, including asset protection, financial reporting, budget, forecasting, and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The role involves ensuring the smooth and profitable operation of the hotels and outlets, while providing effective leadership and accountability for the entire accounting department.

Key responsibilities:

• Overseeing cash management, chargebacks, and monthly financial statements, including balance sheets and statements of cash flow.
• Conduct monthly P&L reviews, ensure compliance with financial regulations, and manage capital expense budgets.
• Collaborate with property leaders to prepare annual operating plans, capital expense budgets, and five-year capital plans.
• Additional duties include forecasting and monitoring the portfolio’s reserve accounts and supervising the accounting team, including recruitment, training, performance management, and professional development.

Requirements:

• The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience in corporate accounting or controller role.
• Real estate, hospitality or hotel management experience is required, along with strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
