A growing real estate investment platform is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Controller to join its dynamic finance team. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with a deep understanding of corporate accounting and hands-on experience in the REIT and Property Management industry, specifically focusing on commercial or industrial properties. A strong working knowledge of Yardi is essential.

You will play a key role in building and automating processes, leading the monthly close, and managing expense allocations. This position requires close collaboration across departments—including Fund Finance, Property Accounting, Corporate Accounting, and Treasury—to support the company’s continued growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the month-end close process: journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and balance sheet account support
• Oversee all aspects of the expense allocation close process, including analysis and methodology review across multiple entities
• Review and analyze fee-related items such as management and transaction fees
• Reconcile intercompany transactions and prepare payroll accounting entries
• Assist in resolving financial consolidation issues
• Develop, implement, and improve internal controls and business processes
• Identify and drive operational efficiencies through automation and best practices
• Work cross-functionally with Fund Finance, Property Accounting, Corporate Accounting, and Treasury teams to ensure alignment and accuracy in financial reporting through YARDI

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, ideally in the REIT or real estate investment industry
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
• Proficiency in Yardi is required
• Strong Excel capabilities (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, SUMIFs, etc.)
• Familiarity with systems like Concur, NetSuite, and Kyriba is a plus
• Technically adept, with the ability to produce accurate, professional outputs across multiple systems
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to work cross-functionally
• Comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Proactive, adaptable, and highly collaborative
