A rapidly growing, large commercial real estate firm is seeking a Controller to lead GAAP and fund operational ad hoc projects. The Controller will be responsible for handling the closing periods and fund accounting, reporting into a CFO. This role will not supervise staff. The ideal candidate will have experience within the real estate industry and strong GAAP accounting capabilities.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and intercompany eliminations.
• Maintain the corporate chart of accounts and accounting policies aligned with real estate operations.

• Manage accounting and reporting for real estate fund related accounting activities.
• Ensure accurate recording of CAM reconciliations, capital improvements, and depreciation.

• Develop, document, and enforce internal controls over financial reporting, property-level accounting, and entity management.
• Support financial audits and ensure the integrity of audit deliverables and supporting documentation.

• Lead and mentor a team of property accountants and senior accountants across the portfolio.
• Partner with property management, leasing, and development teams to align operational activity with financial reporting.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• 7+ years of accounting experience with at least two years in the real estate industry.
• Must have both fund accounting and GAAP month-end closing capabilities.
• Experience utilizing Yardi software is required.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with attention to detail.
