A growing healthcare organization is seeking an Assistant Controller to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a strong background in public accounting looking to make the transition to the private industry OR a strong accountant with solid health care industry experience who is eager to join a rapidly growing, stable organization!

Job Overview:
The Assistant Controller will play a key role in supporting the Controller in the overall financial management and reporting of the organization. This position is ideal for someone transitioning from public accounting, with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in healthcare financial management while leveraging existing skills in financial reporting, compliance, and auditing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in accordance with GAAP.
  • Manage general ledger functions, including account reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet and income statement variances, providing explanations and insights.
  • Support the annual audit process, including coordination with external auditors and preparation of required documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare industry regulations and internal financial policies.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of accounting procedures to improve efficiencies and accuracy.
  • Help maintain the company’s internal controls and identify areas for process improvement.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, including variance analysis.
  • Manage special financial projects as needed, including system implementations and reporting enhancements.
  • Provide support to the Controller and senior leadership on financial analysis and strategic decision-making.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA (or in progress) strongly preferred but not required.
  • Previous or current public accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software systems; experience with accounting software is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
